Trevose Horticultural Society’s August meeting

“Growing Great Garlic” will be the featured program at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Tuesday, August 12 at 7:30 pm at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road in Bensalem.

Guest speaker, Scott Guiser will explain the step by step process of growing garlic from seed for best results.  He will discuss tips on choosing the best varieties for your area, including fall planting and mulching through spring fertilizing, watering, harvesting and storing.  

Guiser is an adjunct faculty member at Delaware Valley University where he teaches pest management in the Organic Certification Program. He is on the faculty at the Barnes Arboretum at St Joseph’s University, teaching courses in soils and weed science.  He is author of a correspondence course, Soils and Soil Fertility.

Scott lectures throughout the Northeast United States. He keeps honeybees, gardens and cooks for fun.
